Rationale

We have experienced dramatic improvement in global health in the 20th century. Most of the improvement is a result of public health and preventive medicine. Epidemiology has played a major role in controlling and preventing infectious and non-communicable diseases. A revolution is now taking place. It started quietly and has grown to involve much of the world. That is the Internet. It is transforming the world. Applying telecommunication into public health and preventive medicine will hold the greatest promise for global health.
